A few minutes later, a rescue party was mobilized to look for his remains as most doubted that anyone could survive the crash. Little did they know that a nearby fisherman had dived in and pulled him out of his car as it sank into the bottom of the Lagos lagoon.
That night, it was all over the news that a man had driven off the Third Mainland Bridge into the Lagos Lagoon but no one knew for sure whether he was dead or alive.
He was rushed down to the hospital and thanks to the fisherman, he escaped death. Upon getting to the hospital, he was quickly admitted into the ICU, he suffered severe fractures and was operated on immediately to prevent further damage to his system. After the surgery, he learnt that he would never walk again. He laid helpless on the hospital bed, the pain was intense but still didn't hurt more than the way he felt inside.
After law enforcement agents had investigated the cause of the crash and figured out that he was drunk driving, they impounded his wrecked vehicle and insisted he went into rehabilitation.
To him it was funny how he was being rehabilitated for the wrong reason. A probation officer was assigned to his home to tear down the bar in his sitting room so that he couldn't reach for a bottle. He was devastated. After all he had achieved in life, his mansion, cars, money in the bank, cash and other assets he still felt incomplete and he didn't want to believe that she was the missing piece to the puzzle.
In his empty big house, he remained helpless. The probation officer kept visiting to assure that he didn't do something stupid but never reached out to him in order to figure out what was going on in his head.
My God! he missed her so much. She had heard his story and attempted to reach out almost immediately but he avoided her like a plague.
To counter his loneliness, he got a dog and named him Stark. Of course the dog kept his company and became his best friend.
One night, while he was asleep the dog kept barking. He couldn't understand why till he managed to get downstairs and saw three armed men.
The dog had smelt a different scent in the house.
One of the armed men pointed a gun at him and asked where he kept his valuables in the house while the others retrieved it not knowing that he had a phone on him and had dialed for help.
Immediately they noticed they angrily fled the crime scene. One was so angry that upon fleeing he shot at the victim........
